In the case of a longer stay and compliance with legal requirements, a third-country national may apply to settle in Hungary.

The following types of settlement permits exist in Hungary, which we undertake to arrange and to extend the already existing permits:

EC Permanent Residence Permit

An EC permanent residence permit can be obtained by a third-country national who has been legally and uninterruptedly in Hungary for at least five years immediately prior to submitting the application, or who holds an EU Blue Card and has been legally and uninterruptedly for at least two years, immediately prior to submitting the application and he/she has resided in the territory of Hungary and has been legally and without interruption in the territory of the Member States of the European Union for at least five years.

Interim Permanent Residence Permit

An interim permanent residence permit can be obtained by a third-country national who holds an EC residence permit issued by another Member State of the European Union and wishes to reside in Hungary for the purpose of gainful activity or employment, studying or vocational training or for other justified purposes.

National Permanent Residence Permit

A national residence permit may be obtained by a third-country national who has resided legally and without interruption in Hungary for at least three years immediately prior to the submission of the application, or who has been in a family community for at least one year immediately prior to the submission of the application with a third-country national who has immigrated or settled or is recognized as a refugee or he/she is his/her spouse or minor child. A third-country national who was formerly a Hungarian citizen and whose citizenship was terminated, or whose ascendant is or was a Hungarian citizen may also apply for a national residence permit.

A special case was the national residence permit issued during the Hungarian Government Bond Program. This program operated in Hungary between 2013 and 2017. Our company also undertakes the extension of expiring national residence permits obtained under this program. Please contact us for more information.

Long-term Residence Card

Long-term residence status shall be granted to a third-country national family member of an EEA national and a person who has retained right of residence with regard to an EEA national, who has resided legally and continuously resided in the territory of Hungary for five years. In addition, a child born in the territory of Hungary of a parent who has the right of permanent residence is also entitled for Long-Term Residence Card.

The long-term residence card issued in this way is valid for 10 years, which can be renewed without examining the conditions.
